Styled Shoot, Puglia, Italy
Lavender and Lemon Wedding
The Styled shoot took place at Masseria Limonaia in Fasano, Puglia on Monday 21 September 2020.
The theme for the styled shoot was Lavender and Lemon Love with Apulian Style and Mediterranean vibes. Masseria Limonaia offers just that with an infinity pool, citrus orchard and large veranda and private spa.
My inspiration came from my love of lavender. It is said to bring good luck whilst also being a symbol of love and devotion, making it a particularly meaningful flower to include in the decor. Lavender also has calming properties, great for pre ceremony nerves!
Lemon is bright and pretty, a local fruit grown in the Mediterranean – and in the orchard of the villa itself. Lemons are considered a symbol of longevity, unity, love and happiness. I thought the combination of lavender and lemon brought true meaning and life to my theme. The colour palette was reflected from this.
I wanted to work with local suppliers in Puglia, supporting the local community and bringing a team together who I can work with again in the future. As I live in Malta I also used a couple of local suppliers for the hair piece and the favours.
The florist put together the florals beautifully matching the theme using lilac roses, lavender, eucalyptus, soft rose curcuma, deep blue hydrangea and white limonium. The florist sourced some of these flowers whilst out walking locally. The unique table centrepiece was tall and colourful, with lots of greenery and dotted with lemons.
The floral arch was the main attraction of the ceremony area, delicately decorated in the 3 corners with floral arrangements and a collection of lemons in the 4th corner. The bride was carrying an elegant and romantic bouquet. The chairs in the ceremony area were decorated with lavender coloured ribbon and sprigs of lavender.
The dinner table was set up with golden underplates and cutlery, lavender coloured glasses, olive branches and sprigs of lavender splayed across the table on either side of the floral centrepiece. The wedding favours were lavender and lemon organic soap bars sourced from a supplier I use in Malta to buy my wedding gifts. Their products are all natural and organic.
The wedding dress was designed and made in Italy, created for young and romantic brides. The softness of the fabric, the weave on the bodice and the three-dimensional flowers on the shoulder make this dress elegant and sophisticated. The flower detail on the dress also matched perfectly with the hand-crafted clay florals in the crystal flower tiara. A beautiful, romantic and sophisticated headpiece. Each flower centre is accented with lilac Swarovski crystals, designed and handmade for the shoot to match the theme. to match the theme.
The Bride’s Hair and make-up was styled beautifully to show off the details of the dress and natural beauty.
The bakery was recommended to me as Ostuni’s best bakery. Decorated with lavender and lemons and sugar frosting, the cake was displayed on a linen covered table with olive branches and lemons.
I met the photographer on a styled shoot forum. He liked my theme and volunteered to help me. Sergio Serrentino is a fine art photographer and the pictures shown are all credit to him.
The stationery was designed beautifully with the Italian style tiles and in the lavender and lemon theme.
My thanks go out to the amazing team of suppliers who helped me make this shoot a success.
